The reading period for the Poetry World Cup 2026 closes on April 15th, 2026. Read and share your favourites to vote for the winner. This is a unique poetry competition where the winner is chosen, not by a specific judge, but by all the people of the world. The Poetry World Cup is presented by Wax Poetry and Art, a Nanaimo, British Columbia-based online poetry magazine that has been published in some form since 2010. The publication has been a long experiment in bringing the world of poets and artists together. Originally based in Calgary, Alberta, Wax Poetry and Art first catered specifically to Calgary poets and artists before opening up to all of Canada, and then the world. It is a free online magazine that is completely accessible to everyone on Earth with internet access. Publisher Kirk Ramdath says the magazine's focus is on reaching people and bringing them together. He says, "When I opened up to international poetry submissions, I realized that the English-speaking world is truly vast, and poets are everywhere. Poets respond to their world and reveal universal truths. Writing can be a solitary endeavour.
